Read this article on slashdot. Are you kidding me? Microsoft is actually trying to patent IsNot. Seriously. I don’t think this needs any explanation.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE PEOPLE?!
Tomorrow I’m gonna try to get a patent on the sound you make when your heart beats. Pay or die.
Oh. My. God.
[edit]
Some nifty replies:
MS announced today their plans to patent the string object, the ampersand, coffee, comfy chairs, and the letter ‘T’.
Think how useful it could be in their advertising campaign:
IsNot reliable
IsNot secure
IsNot a good idea

A few months ago, cush_ showed us this site called ihate.
It’s some sort of Wiki like the Wikipedia. The only difference is that’s it’s not really usefull, but funny as hell
Some ihate’s not to miss:
And not to forget, we’re in it too
(Rank 14!)
I nearly laughed my ass off. Hilarious. You should hate stuff too.

I don’t know who’s idea it was, and I don’t see the benefit of it, but I do know that when you examing skynet hosting (in belgium, users.skynet.be) you don’t get dirlistings. You’re not allowed to create a .htaccess file (and I don’t think they’re using Apache either), with an .htaccess file just adding Options +Indexes would fix it. You also can’t run php/cgi/asp scripts, so there is no way of listing your directory… Or is there?
I’m writing this script that does this for you, all you have to do is create a (free) account and fill out a form with some ftp-data. The script will then scan the ftp for files and generate an html files and put it in the root folder;
That’s one way to work around the problem. In the future, you’ll probably be able to do a lot more, like exclude files from the listing, only list jpeg’s, theme it, …
But for now it’s all dirty (php) code, will get a testpage up asap, no time right now.

For all those who don’t know what I’m talking about, this picture shows what a dirlisting (or Index) is. This one was obviously created by Apache.

I’m writing a review on RS-485, an electrical specification to carry data around in very simple networks (involving PC’s, microcontrollers, …). Did I mention we’re also supposed to give a presentation about it?
Better start writing (14 hours left, of which I intend to sleep at least 5).
[edit]
Well, here we are, 9 hours left and the job is done!

Why the hell do people with big BMW’s think they can park in the middle of the road?
When I’m driving around in Brussels, I get aggressive. Very aggressive.
Don’t go to Brussels when I’m there. I’m not a nice person.
[edit]
I’m not talking about people driving 3 series, I’m talking about the new series, don’t know what year they’re from but after 2003 I think. And it’s mostly X5’s and other 5 serie cars that irritate me. Very typical.

“Niki’s Geheim” is airing and a friend of ours is on the show (more here). Today the next 2 candidates were sent home.
The second candidates to get eliminated were Joachim (here’s his homepage) and Els.
This time we got an extra projector, because last time it got pretty crowded and we tought we could use another screen. So, 2 big-ass screens, lot’s of people and great ambiance
(we come together in JH Barcode in Wemmel btw).
It was a pretty rough episode, an “everything you say can and will be misquoted and used against you”. Joachim didn’t look too happy in the interview afterwards, most likely because (some of) the other guys were very rude behind his back, but too chicken to tell it to his face. He had to go because Niki said he wasn’t giving her enough attention, as if he wasn’t interested, while the real reason was he was told to back off by the other guys. Anyway, for what it’s worth, I still think you’re an ok-guy Joachim :).

Writing my last post suddenly reminded me of this flashmovie I saw once. No wait, not a flasmovie, but THE flashmovie. And no, I didn’t “see it once”, I saw it at least 45 times (of which 15 in a row at some lanparty @ cush_ :)).

It has to be the best flashmovie ever made, and nobody seems to know who created it. I’m not quite sure but I think it was cush_ who showed it to me, somewhere in 2003, and ever since I have to see it at least once every few months to make sure I NEVER forget how funny it is.
Download it here.
