No more posters with EID
I mentioned the Belgian EID card before (the electronic identity card), about the spelling mistakes on the card (on purpose, suuuure) and about Bill Gates showing his interest in this Belgian project.
Minister Patrick Dewael (Internal Affairs) made the very smart decision to drop the A4 sized paper you got with the new card. Since your address isn’t mentioned on the card and the whole country isn’t equipped with the right material to read the chips yet, you were given a big sheet of paper with all the information printed on it that you need to carry with you wherever you go. I’ve lost mine, that’s for sure.
Anyway, Het Laatste Nieuws tells is that this is history. Most of the country is now able to read the chips, and if you run into an officer that doesn’t have the right machine, you can just tell him where you live and he’ll have to go with it.
Most people lost their document anyway.
How about serving the coffee AFTER the dessert?
